The Center
History
The Center for Healthier Relationships, Individuals, and Sexualities (CHRIS) was established by Dr. Christopher “Chris” Wilson in 2017. The focus was to provide LGBTQ affirmative care as well as therapy to couples (monogamous and non-monogamous), families, and individuals. CHRIS was originally founded as part of the network known as Philadelphia Institute for Individual, Relational, and Sex Therapy (PHIIRST).
Current Direction
Since it’s inception, there has been an increase need for therapists and the network of providers has started to grow. As such, the network is preparing for a new collaboration with PHL Therapy Collective, in which the two therapy organizations will share a space in the Land Title Building.
Therapists who are a part of the network of CHRIS strive to help clients with compassion. We understand that individuals, couples, and families are impacted by the history of struggles they have faced based on sociocultural, gender & sex, family of origin, and the narratives of their lived experiences. We strive to take this into account when working with clients.
We invite you to review the website to learn a bit more about the therapists who are a part of CHRIS.
Therapy
Therapy aids individuals, couples, and families in finding better ways of manage life stresses, transitions, family dynamics, mental health diagnoses, relationship issues, and sexuality concerns. We all have the power to grow and therapy can be a valuable process in this growth. Therapy is often much like other journeys in life, goals may be established but they may also require changes as one progresses through the process. Both modality as well as the therapeutic relationship help set the tone for this process.
